Republican political donors are raising funds for U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman as he runs as an Independent *after his loss to Ned Lamont in the Democratic primary.
A luncheon, hosted by President Bush's college roommate, Tom Kuhn, cost $1,000 a plate for the former Democratic Vice Presidential candidate, an an effort to push the candidate closer to the GOP if he should indeed win reelection in Connecticut.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Kuhn, president of the Edison Electric Institute, raised more than $100,000 for Bush in the 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns.
Also among the Lieberman event's sponsors was Rick Shelby, a longtime Republican operative who is executive vice president of the American Gas Association.
And how's Mel Sembler coming along?
With all thanks and acknowledgment to "All Headline News" folks.
*For clarification purposes, understand that Lieberman is not running on the Independent Party line...that is a separate entity altogether. He is running independent-LY in the party he created, the "Connecticut for Lieberman Party." That's a big mislead on his part.
